Hello All I just wanted to touch base with everyone. I made pages at the top for you to click on -- Home, Calendar, Spelling Rule, and Review Sheets/Newsletters. I wanted to take some time to tell you about each page. "Home" takes you back to the homepage which you are on right now. "Calendar" gives you a larger calendar from the shortened version to the agenda on the right. "Spelling Rule" gives you the spelling rule for the week. "Review sheets/Newsletters" has different folders in it for each subject area and for the newsletters. You will find the review sheets for all subjects in there for this week and next.

I appreciate you taking the time to check out this blog. As I have mentioned before, I believe communication is the key to success for everyone. Please email me if you have any questions! Have fun checking out the different parts of the blog. Happy Exploring!

Welcome to 4th Grade. It is going to be an amazing year. You will be so pleased and amazed by the growth your child will make this year as a student. I am so honored to have your child in my class. Please check this blog often, as all the important information pertaining to our class will be here. My students will be given time in class each day to write their assignments in their agendas, but I will try to post homework here each day as a backup plan on the calendar tab. Since technology doesn't always work, the first line of daily communication is still their agenda. Please encourage your child to write in their agenda each day. Homework will be given several times a week. I will post study guides when we have a test to help your child prepare at home. Often homework will be assigned from our math book. Each child is allowed to bring home their math books, but they will also be given a unique user name and a password that gives them access to our entire math text book online. There will be more information about this during the first week of school. I will use this blog and email to do the majority of my communication. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. It is going to be a great year.

WORTH 25 BEADS -- HAVE YOUR CHILD COME UP TO ME AND TELL ME, "MRS. JOHNSON IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!" ;)

Now skip down and read the post. HAPPY READING!!

Next Week

We have another busy week ahead of us. Please check the calendar on the right for the tests coming up.

I wanted to give you some direction on the math pre-test that came home today. I gave the pre-test before we went over topic 1 to see what they already knew -- which was very little on decimals and to be expected. I am asking that they finish correcting the test over the weekend. Most of them corrected a lot of it during class today. On the back of the pre-test, I put some "quick checks" we did throughout the topic. They are exactly what they sound like -- quick assessments (not graded) to check what they understand for small group tutoring. They have already been corrected with me, so they do not need to be worked on. Please check the pre-test, sign it, and send it back on Monday. For 5 extra points on the test, your child can log on to the math book online (www.pearsonsuccess.net) and take the topic 1 reveiw online test. It is under the "To Do" tab on the main screen of Pearson. There is no need to print the test because I am able to view their grades online.

Thanks again for all your help! Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions!

REMEMBER:
You can find the spelling rule under the "spelling" tab at the top.
The review sheets for the different tests are under the review tab.
You can find the newsletter for this week under the newsletter tab.
To log onto the math book online the info is: login: lunch number password: 123456.
